It’s a very Carnaby Christmas 2021. Dust off your baubles!

Christmas – one of our all-time favourite C-words – is apparently making a return this year, and always hot-to-trot on the act is London’s glittering Carnaby Street-and-environs, who go to town and back again with light installations and whatnot, often with added poignancy. Platitudes to the wonder of life and the newness of living or the NHS, that sort of thing.

This year, there’s a collaboration with Choose Love, the refugee charity, which also totally works as a gay pride thing, so there’s a double-whammy of kindness right there. And they’ve created the Carnaby Kaleidoscope, where (and this is where the press release kicks in) ‘a world of shimmering neon butterflies will illuminate Carnaby from the 4th of November alongside an experiential shopping and dining party’.

Not only did they get a lot of information in that one sentence, but we never knowingly ever have a good ol’ shop that is neither not an experience nor doesn’t end in a dining party. Sometimes starts with one.

More of the press release?

‘Over 600 sparkling 3D and 2D butterflies will flutter down Carnaby Street, Foubert’s Place and Newburgh Street. Each butterfly is hand decorated with reflective wings and bright neon patterns. The Carnaby arch will shine bright in pink shimmer disks with brightly coloured 3D butterflies perched above.

‘The installation is a metaphoric representation of life exemplifying spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope and life.’

Don’t know about you but it’s forcing us to believe it.
