Is this the gay book of the year? Could be!

The concept is so delicious it just has to be fattening. A young English journalist goes to do an internship at a New York newspaper weeks before the assassination of JFK (which means 1963. What do they teach in schools these days?) and is commissioned to blow the lid off the underground gay scene, this being pre-Stonewall and all. But while trying to do said blowing, he discovers a world he not only feels at home in but one ready to offer him love, acceptance and a much better wardrobe.

Romantic, quite sexy (actually VERY sexy in parts) and with characters so likeable the BBC must surely be casting as we speak, I Am Not Raymond Wallace by Sam Kenyon ticks every box - including a gorgeous cover - and even has some rather beautiful Christmas scenes in a snowy Brooklyn in case you were looking for something for right now.

Published by Inkandescent, £10.99 in paperback.
